Fun In New Mexico

After weeks of anticipation our trip to New Mexico finally came. We left Thursday night and drove through the thickest scariest fog of my life to beloved St. Johns, AZ where we stayed the night with my aunt. Friday moring we continued our drive to Albuquerque and arrived there in the early afternoon. The rest of the weekend was filled with family and lots of fun. We spent Saturday snowboarding in Santa Fe. It was very cold but totally worth it because the snow was so great. It was Dave's first time on a board, and I must say, I was very impressed. He caught on so quick! We had a great time boarding together. The trip was short, but very much needed. It was so great to get away and have a good time together.

On Valentine's Day I walked in the door from work and found a trail of little white feet all through my house. I followed the trail into our spare room and at the end on the trail was a bunny rabbit cage! For that past year I have been harrassing Dave about getting a bunny. He finally gave in and surprised me for Valentine's Day. I've been so excited to go pick out my bunny, but then I started reading stuff about them online and now I'm not so sure I want a bunny...

Happy Birthday Dave

Last Friday was Dave's birthday. We had a great morning off of work together, and then that evening Dave went to the Suns game (YES WE WON) while I stayed home and frosted his birthday cake (only a jealousy there).

On Saturday, some of Dave's friends came over to help us eat cake and celebrate Dave's 28th birthday. We had a great time playing Killer Bunnies (the most random card game you'll ever play). Overall, Dave had a really great birthday and we had a really nice weekend together.

I'm a slacker

So I have been REALLY bad at blogging lately. A little over a month ago my friend Kayla had a beautiful baby boy (yay for Kayla :) here are some pictures that I took when he was two and half weeks old.

We I also had a great baby shower for Kayla in January. And I made the most awesome dipper cake, if I do say so myself.

New Job

After four/five months of searching I have finally found a new job. It's far from ideal, but for where I'm at in my life right now, I think it's pretty cool. The job is at a year round indoor swim gym. They primarly teach toodlers how to swim and it's amazing what they can do. With just a few basic techniques they can get one year old children to float and swim well enough to save themselves if something were to happen to them. By four the children can swim the entire length of the pool in a very fluid freestyle. You can check it out here http://www.swimkidsaz.com/. Unfortunetly, the job comes with some draw backs. It's hours are such that it doesn't allow me to quite Kids Corner because starting out I only can teach 4 hours a day (after time I can do work outside the pool; office stuff) It may be only 4 hours but it is plenty of time for the water to do a number on your skin. Aside from totally drying me out it has also caused
Body hairloss (arms, and everywhere else there is fine hair, weird!)
Rash
Permently, semi pruned fingers
Skin that forever smells of chlorine
And a termendous amount of itching
Thankfully my body is begining to adjust, but I'm still wondering what is in that water!

Holidays are over

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year. Dave and I had so much fun spending our third Christmas together. Aside from the fact that we were fighting fevers, coughs, and stuffy noses all Christmas Eve and the following 3 days, we had a great time with family. It was so wonderful to see Scott and Lonica again, even if it ment sitting in the airport parking lot for 2 hours.
I'm looking forward to the new year, even though I have no idea what it will bring, but I guess that's what I like about it.

Crazy Old People

Anybody that has ever been to Phoenix during the winter knows that we have a plethora of old people here. The most common encounters with them is on the road; when you are traveling along at 50 MPH and suddenly you have to come to a screeching stop.

When you live in far East Mesa (the Land of Green Rock as I like to call it) the crazy old people encounters are year round, as their lovely double-wides surround my neighborhood. On the street adjacent to ours there is a particularly extra crazy old person, I'll call him Stew.

The first time I saw Stew I had to stop and stare because it's not every day that you see a man in his 80's ridding a bike with a very large basket on the back supporting an even larger canopy. I wondered what he was doing and then carried on with what I was doing. After, many Stew sitings (in 100+ weather) I realized that he was picking trash up off the streets (with one of those trash pincher thingies). I thought to myself, "O what I nice old man, using his time to help keep our neighborhood clean."

Now that I work at Kids Corner before school I am always driving home at 8:30. This seems to be Stew's scheduled time for 'cleaning' the streets. As I approached my house the other day I saw Stew out in front of my neighbor's house. As I got closer, I realized he was digging through his black garbage can! He was pulling garbage out of the can and placing it in his basket!

I am not sure what happens to man to make him want to dig through an other mans trash, but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with age.
